What is the practical placement?
The practical placement is the 4th Module in the Certificate Course. This is for participants who do not have a background in Education, Psychology, Counselling etc and would like to be a Peaceful Kids Facilitator. The placement requires a minimum of facilitating 3 Peaceful Kids groups (over 8 weeks) with the support of a mentor. Students are required to seek and organise their own placement in schools or in private venues which may require asking schools or organisations to have you volunteer your time to facilitate the 3 groups. This will be 70 hours in total for the 3 groups allowing 3 hours for each group each week. ( 1 hour to facilitate the group, 1 hour for preparation and 1 hour of note taking/preparation).
I am parent and would like to attend just to support my child - can I complete the certificate?
Yes anyone can attend the training. Parents can attend the Peaceful Kids training course for their own interest and learning to support their own children. You will need to keep in mind though that some discussions and resources will be geared towards facilitating the programs or lessons with children after the course. You won't be able to facilitate the Peaceful Kids Intervention program unless you have a background and qualifications in Education, Counselling or Psychology or complete the whole certificate course which will enable you to facilitate the program.
I am not a counsellor, so it is ok to run the Peaceful Kids program for children who are suffering from anxiety?
Yes. This program is specifically designed to be run as a life skill and education based program and not a counselling program. This program is an educational program that gives children and young adults the skills and strategies to manage their stress levels, anxiety and build resilience using Mindfulness and Positive Psychology strategies.
What if I am concerned about a student during the Peaceful Kids intervention program?
You can refer a child to a psychologist or counsellor if you feel they need additional support or if you have a psychologist at your school / organisation you can share your concerns with them.
Do I have to run the Peaceful Kids program after the course?
No, there is no requirement to facilitate the Peaceful Kids intervention program after you finish the course. You can use the certificate training to run your own Mindfulness lessons or complete the course just for your own professional development. You may even like to integrate the learning into your own existing business such as your counselling practice or yoga lessons.
What can I do once I finish the certificate course?
There are many options once you complete the course. You can run your own mindfulness lessons for children by integrating the learning into your own programs or services that you have created or currently facilitate, or use the learning and program material in your school if you are an educator.
You can also facilitate the 'Peaceful Kids' program or the 'Peaceful Parents' program using all the resources and programs given to you in the course, either in a non for profit setting such as a school or for profit in private practice.
If you are intending to run the Peaceful Kids programs for profit and use any of the resources given in the course, then you will need to purchase the business licence.
What is the Business Licence?
The Business Licence allows you to become an independent Peaceful Kids Facilitator in your own business.
Peaceful Kids facilitators who attend the training do not need to purchase the licence if they are running the program within their own school or organisation as a non for profit service.
However if you would like to run your own Peaceful Kids classes and program for profit in your own business or private practice, program graduates can purchase the Peaceful Kids Licence and Kit. The Licence allows you to develop your private practice, delivering the Peaceful Kids program in schools, organisations, hospitals, wellbeing centres, private venues or as a specialist after school program. The additional Peaceful Kids Kit provides you with everything you will need to build your own successful Peaceful Kids business including advertising on the Peaceful Kids website. Find more information here on the Business licence.
Do I have to purchase the Business Licence to run the program?
You only need to purchase the business Licence if you intend to run the program for profit in your own business. If you are in a school or a community organisation you can run both the Peaceful Kids intervention program and Chill out sessions with students without purchasing the licence.
Can I train adults once I complete the certificate?
The certificate allows you to only deliver programs and lessons with children using the Peaceful Kids program and Chill out sessions. If you complete the Peaceful Parents module, you can facilitate the Peaceful Parents 4 week workshop with a group of parents. The certificate does not train you to hold meditation sessions with adults, be an adult meditation teacher or train adults in children's meditation strategies. Wellbeing For Kids recommends further meditation teacher training for adults if you are looking to run adults classes.
Can I just facilitate Mindfulness/Meditation lessons for children and not the Peaceful Kids intervention program for children?
Yes the certificate program is designed so you can hold weekly meditation and mindfulness lessons for children once you are trained. Even though you will be trained as a Peaceful Kids facilitator, it is optional to run this program. You will be able to facilitate the ’Chill Out’ sessions for children and be a Peaceful Kids ‘Chill Out’ facilitator or you can create your own Mindfulness sessions in your own business without using any of the Peaceful Kids or Chill Out resources.
I already have my own yoga / meditation business, can I complete the Certificate course just for professional learning?
Yes, the course is designed to increase your knowledge and experience in delivering mindfulness lessons and programs to children. You don’t have to use any of the resources given or facilitate any of the programs that your learn, you can just use the learning from the program and integrate this into your own current business. Some people combine the mindfulness learning with their own Yoga qualifications to combine weekly classes of Yoga and Meditation for children. or combine both the 'Chill Out' lessons alongside Yoga classes.
I am a meditation teacher and currently working only with adults and would like to now work with children. Will this certificate help me to do this?
You will need to complete the whole Certificate program which incorporates the Peaceful Kids training. The Peaceful Kids training will not be sufficient if you don't have experience with children. The Certificate in Mindfulness and Wellbeing however will give you the skills to facilitate mindfulness lessons and strategies with children. If you don’t have any experience of working with children, you will need to complete all four modules and complete the practicum of a minimum of 70 hours delivering lessons with support from a mentor.
What resources do I get?
You get all the resources you need to run the programs and sessions - there is no need to create any of your own resources. You will receive a manual for each module. You will receive the Peaceful Kids Intervention program manual for the Peaceful Kids training, the Peaceful Kids ‘Chill Out’ manual in the Advanced Peaceful Kids training and the Peaceful Parents manual in the Peaceful Parents training. You also get a huge pack of PDF cards, PowerPoint training presentations, activities, meditations, scripts and more to run each of the programs or to use individually with children.
