Course Overview
The ‘Certificate in Mindfulness and Wellbeing For Children’ – the first of its kind in Australia, is offered by ‘Wellbeing For Kids’. The certificate program has 4 modules that incorporates the ‘Peaceful Kids’ and ‘Peaceful Parents’ training. Modules 1, 2 and 3 can be completed as face to face training or online training. Module 4 is a practicum placement for those that don't have any experience working with children or a background in education, psychology or counselling. This training provides hands on and engaging training in Mindfulness strategies, exercises and meditations for children that can be used with children individually or in whole groups such as classrooms or in wellbeing centres. This Certificate training also gives participants a manualized program to deliver the Peaceful Kids intervention educational program for children who are suffering anxiety and stress symptoms as well as building resilience. At the end of the course you will be trained as both a Peaceful Kids (or Peaceful Teens) and a Peaceful Parents facilitator. Graduates of the program will be able to deliver Mindfulness classes and programs to children of any age using the huge range of resources and manuals that are included in the training. The training is both a personal and professional mindfulness and positive psychology training. Participants need to have qualifications in Education, Psychology or mental health to deliver the 8 week Peaceful Kids Intervention program, or complete the whole Certificate in Mindfulness & Wellbeing for Children and complete a practicum with children to be an accredited Peaceful Kids Facilitator. Upon successful completion of the Certificate course, you will be eligible for for provisional membership of Meditation Australia. Once you are a member, graduates will be able to gain access to professional insurance services. Alternatively you will be able to gain membership and insurance through the International Institute of Complementary Therapies (IICT) upon completion of the course. |
The Certificate in Mindfulness and Wellbeing for Children is offered face to face in many states in Australia beginning with the Peaceful Kids training (Module 1). The remaining modules can be completed face to face in Melbourne or online at your own pace.

Prerequisite : Completion of the Peaceful Kids training In this module students learn strategies to facilitate the Peaceful Parents Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based parenting program to increase resilience in both parents and their children. Participants also learn how to engage with parents to support children to lessen anxiety and increase resilience. Participants will be trained Peaceful Parents facilitators at the end of the course. Note: Participants don't need to necessary run the Peaceful Parents program after the training, but this module is essential for participants to successfully facilitate mindfulness lessons and programs with children. |

Minimum 24 hours delivering the Peaceful Kids program with children or delivering Mindfulness lessons to groups of children (or facilitating the Peaceful Parents program with parents)
Prerequisite : Completion of Modules 1, 2 & 3 In this module students engage in professional practice of facilitating or co-facilitating a minimum of three, 8 week Peaceful Kids intervention programs with a small group of children which equates to a minimum of 24 face to face teaching hours. An additional 48 hours is allocated to preparation and reflections for each lesson or group session. (Participants can also gain their practicum hours with Parents delivering the Peaceful Parents program) Alternatively students can facilitate Mindfulness lessons and meditations in a group environment such as a classroom for the same number of hours. Students are to source and organise their own place for their practicum such as a school or private wellbeing centre to facilitate their groups or lessons. Students will also be allocated a Peaceful Kids Mentor to gain supervision, for 4 zoom or phone sessions to guide you along the way. Depending on location, there is the opportunity to work more closely with a Mentor in co-facilitating the Peaceful Kids program and gain supervision in this way. AssessmentIf you already have experience working with children, you will gain your certificate after Module 3 with no need to complete any assessments. If you are completing the modules online, you will need to submit a reflective journal for each course. For those that don't have any experience working with children assessment for this course is very practical. Upon completion of the 4 modules you will be required to lead at least 3 Peaceful Kids intervention group over 8 weeks. Assessment requirements will be written feedback by your chosen mentor, self-reflections and pre and post surveys filled out by your students. Once assessments are submitted you will receive your certificate. |
