'Peaceful Parents' is a Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based parenting program to increase resilience in both parents and their children.  ‘Peaceful Parents’ is a strength-based parenting workshop that is engaging, practical and supportive for parents.   Parents learn strategies to lessen stress, enjoy parenting more as well as learning practical strategies to build resilience in their children.

Peaceful Parents is run by trained Peaceful Parent Facilitators who have experience and training in the Peaceful Kids program

"The strongest predictor of life success for children is being able to regulate emotions. This means when they are feeling anxious or avoidant that they can bring themselves back to being resilient. We can teach children these skills. Even better we can show them how to do it. This is where the ‘Peaceful Parents’ program is so powerful. By focusing on listening, communication and mindful parenting we can demonstrate these skills to our children day in day out.

We also know that our relationships thrive when we Connect, Protect and Respect one another (CPR). 'Peaceful Parents' builds this by helping parents to 'Connect' - To their strengths as parents, Identifying strengths of children and Developing cultures of unconditional positive regard, 'Protect' - Know how to handle strong emotions, How to listen well & calming mindfulness and emotional regulation and to 'Respect' - Using the 4 C’s – calm, curious, coach and communicate to develop ways to peacefully parent children.

Georgina and the team at Wellbeing for Kids should be congratulated for putting together such a useful resource for parents.  Bravo!! "

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become trained in the Peaceful Parents program?
You will need to attend the 2 day training program.  You will need to have been trained in the Peaceful Kids program first and there are no exceptions to this. You also need to have run at least 1 Peaceful Kids group with children and be practising Mindfulness yourself.

How does the program run for parents?
The Peaceful Parents program is a 4 week workshop that is run for 2 hours each week.  The workshops are consecutive and not separate workshops, so parents need to commit to attend all 4 sessions.  The groups run with approximately 8 - 12 parents.

Is this a counselling program or group therapy?
No the program is not a counselling program or group therapy.  It is an educational course for parents and you will not be expected to counsel parents with any individual issues or issues around their children.

I am not a counsellor, so it is ok to run this program with Parents?
Yes.  This program is specifically designed to be run as a life skill and education based program and not a counselling program.   This program is a life skills program that gives parents the skills and strategies to increase their wellbeing and knowledge in strategies to help their children build resilience.  Although this is not a counselling program, it is still a requirement that you have highly developed interpersonal skills and a genuine respect and understanding of parents in your setting.

Any other questions?

What resources do I receive when I do the training?
You will receive everything you need to run the program with parents from the manual and parent workbook to parent tip sheets and even weekly emails.  You will not need to purchase anything to run the program.

Who can run the program?
The Peaceful Parents program can be run in schools, organisations, private practice or any organisation you work with parents.  The program can be run by individual wellbeing therapists or any member of school staff including Wellbeing Leaders, School leaders, teachers, mental health professionals, Psychologists or Counsellors and also staff in organisations such as psychologists, counsellors, social workers, chaplains, youth workers, mental health nurses.

Can I run the program for profit in my own business?
Peaceful Parents facilitators who attend the training do not need to purchase the licence if they are running the program within their own school or organisation as a non for profit service.   However if you would like to run your own Peaceful Parents Workshops for profit in your own business or private practice, program graduates can purchase the Peaceful Parents Licence and Kit. The Licence allows you to develop your private practice, delivering the Peaceful Parents program in schools, organisations, hospitals, wellbeing centres or in private venues. The additional Peaceful Parents Kit provides you with everything you will need to build your own successful Peaceful Parents business including advertising on the Peaceful Kids website.  Find more information here on the Business licence.

Facilitator Testimonials

'Peaceful Parents' has been an empowering program for our parents who are looking for more peaceful homes. The sessions have given parents useful strategies to use at home with their families and also brought about an awareness to be more present.

The courage and openness in which the parents came into the workshops allowed me as a facilitator develop a group that supported and learned from each other.

Having the 'Peaceful Parents' workshops at our school was a wonderful  way to support our parents who have many common concerns, particularly around anxiety. Parents could then learn about and implement strategies such as mindfulness and reflective listening to build resilience. There was also an added benefit because the information presented in the workshops align with the strategies used at our school.

I have enjoyed peaceful parents so much. This program is brilliant and has allowed me to develop authentic relationships with our parents. I looked forward to each Friday when I ran the sessions. You should be so proud of this program.

Tania Whittaker, St. Joan of Arc Brighton
I would definitely recommend this professional learning and the program to anyone who is connected with children and people who are seeking awareness and connection in their lives.  I could come to this PL forever! The resources are fantastic and the parents love having the information to refer to and take with them. I feel the connection and growth each time - thank you.
Sallee Carter - St. Dominic's Melton
This was an excellent PD - would definitely recommend to other people / schools.  It links in well with Peaceful Kids and with 'positive parenting' philosophies.  The facilitator resources are very well planned and there is a great range, very accessible and well suited to the needs of parents.  The PD content will enable facilitators to teach parents how to be mindful in particular with their children and family so they can enjoy their time together, stop the disconnect, empower their children as well as themselves with better listening and problem solving skills.
Carolina Ferguson, St. Thomas More Hadfield
The theory / explanations / education / information and all things related to Mindfulness provided real nourishment for me.  Selfishly I knew this would be the case however becoming informed and learning to deliver the Peaceful Parents program was successful achieved.  I think the session content for parents is so good.  It is relatable and easy for parents to comprehend. The resources provided are terrific.  I think for those of us who have participated / executed the Peaceful Kids program, the Peaceful Parents program is a natural flow on.
Kerri Selby- Hele, St. Augustine's Frankston South
I would absolutely recommend this training - anyone who has attended the Peaceful Kids training would greatly benefit from this further training to enable them to better engage with and involve parents.   The content for parents is manageable and easy to understand and the ways in which the content is provided enables all types of learners to engage.  The parents will be able to recognise their strengths and areas in need of development.  The content is well supported by the resources which are engaging and easy to use on all fronts for both facilitator and parents.  Having the resources on hand makes running the program easy - the work is done for you.
Sheree Vulling, St. Patricks Lilydale
Amazing, amazing knowledge that has been given.  The parents will gain so much from this.  The main thing for parents knowing it's ok and having the knowledge from this course they can grow their family positively.  Amazing resources - it has everything.  I would recommend this PD for sure, even not just for schools / teachers, even just as a parent.   Knowledge is power = change = growth.
Penny Szakal, Our Lady of the Nativity, Aberfeldie
I enjoyed learning more in depth about mindful parenting.  The content is excellent - lots of new information and challenges for parents, giving themselves permission for self-care.  The resources for parents are excellent.  I would absolutely recommend this program and I would love to see Peaceful Parents at new mum's groups.

I like that the program is structured and clearly set out.  The information is 'very friendly language'.  Parents would take away at least some part of the course as it touches on different aspects well.  The resources are accessible and look great.  They are reader friendly and lovely images to support the information.
Stephanie Von Schill, Our Lady of Lourdes, Devonport
Awesome training that will be so helpful for services to provide for their parents.  I now have a better understanding of Mindfulness for myself and feeling confident that I will be able to help parents understand Mindfulness. The resources are beautiful and the facilitator manual is set out in a way that is easy to understand.  I think parents and children will benefit from this program as parents will have a better understanding of Mindfulness and spend more positive time with their children.

There is a wealth of helpful resources for parents - well done ! They are very comprehensive, practical and accessible for both parents and facilitators. The structure of the content is well sequences and the timings are very helpful.  It's so important for parents to have an understanding of their own mindfulness practice to understand their kids, so that information is very useful.  I would absolutely recommend this PD to those in a Wellbeing Coordinator / leader role, social workers, counselors or Deputies.
Jacinta Singleton, Solway Primary
As usual, Georgina's PD's are engaging, well organised and build on skills and knowledge already in place.  The Peaceful Parents program is Excellent !  I feel confident to present this and can't wait to give it a go.  I think slowing down and enjoying their own lives and time with their children will be the main benefit for parents.  So much more will develop from this point - empathy, kindness and resilience being a few. Yes, Yes, Yes I recommend this program - the more we get this message out the healthier our communities will be.
Kay Lewis-Pyke, Save the Children

So refreshing to attend a PD that allows you and in fact gives permission for you to 'soften' and be in our bodies, rather than always in our heads. I am so appreciative for the effort and massive undertaking and preparation of the content of Peaceful Parents.  Such a sense of gratitude that I have been able to attend and soak up your knowledge, experience and be able to 'take it to the world' of my community.  There is such positive and such wonderful resources.  This is essential learning and skill sets for all humans, especially for those of use in positions of responsibility.

I loved every minute of the course.  So much information which was thought provoking and made one reflect.  Loved the 'hands on' approach and wonderful to share ideas and thoughts with like minded people. Loved the different scenarios and how we can respond without judgement as a facilitator.  This is a fantastic program! I think parents will benefit both on a personal level and also improve their relationship with their child (& others).  Very practical tips / strategies they can use way after the course.  The parent booklet is a great resource for parents to reflect back on.  I totally recommend this training to others.  Would promote the course for people's personal development to help inform parents.  Thank you Georgie for your generous spirit.  You are a wonderful facilitator and motivator !
Jacinta Singleton, Our Lady of Nativity Aberfeldie

Parent Testimonials

A big thank you for a wonderful course you provided over the past 4 weeks.  It was practical, insightful and helpful and your style of facilitating and coaching was natural and supportive & a lovely group of parents.  Wonderful initiative by St. Mary’s to offer to parents - thanks !
 MJ, St. Mary’s Hampton
I want to say THANK YOU!!! As I believe that I have been very lucky to have had the chance to participate in the peaceful parents program this year. I really found your sessions so enriching and enlightening, each and every one of them have been an opportunity for reflecting, gaining self-awareness, connecting with our emotions and with others through sharing thoughts experiences in a very safe and warm environment.

The Program has definitely been an invaluable opportunity for growth. I feel I carry my “tool kit” with me and I also feel much better prepared to deal with my own and others’ problems in a more reflective and effective way.
Thanks for having shown such a genuine interest in helping us bring out the best in ourselves. I believe there is still a lot of room for improvement, but I feel like while I don’t know the way, at least I now know which way to go.

It was lovely to see how we all connected so well and from our hearts – the dynamics of the group that were established in the program has incredibly left a trace on us as a group. I found this fascinating!
Mercedes, St. Mary’s Hampton
My children are now opening up more through the use of reflective listening, which is improving our communication. Peaceful Parents has made me more aware and appreciative of the little things. I have learnt so much and highly recommend this workshop.
Elizabeth, St Martins Rosanna
I would like to say that after your last session, we spent 2 afternoons “in the flow” with my kids. Drawing and building lego for hours. It was very nice. My relationship with my children is more relaxed since I have been trying the tools you have given me. I’ve tried reflective listening (I realise I have never been a reflective listener) and it’s hard but surprisingly effective when I get it right. I have tried naming emotions with my children which has also been unexpectedly for me very successful in comforting and calming my children. I have found deep relaxation through the breathing techniques and meditate almost every day. I am understanding myself more as I try to notice my thoughts.

I have found “time” when I stopped rushing things and multitasking. Our home is more loving. We have more fun and laughs and play. I am working on not reacting and not becoming emotional which is again very hard for me. But I can see how effective it is. And how much more my children open up and even my partner.

There are so many little things that I learnt with you during these sessions that I never considered. And I am very grateful to you. I have still a long way to go l, however it’s a journey that will only get better I think, as I try to become better at using these techniques and changing my mindset. For me the practical examples you gave us made it easier for me to try these tools.

It’s been good also to share experiences with the other parents. That’s where one realises how similar we are.  These seminars can help so many parents and so many families find deeper connections, bonds as they can slowly unlearn parenting styles that have been passed on to them and try new ways to communicate.  Thank you. I am very grateful.
Iris, Trinity Primary Richmond
I would strongly recommend this workshop it has been really useful and interesting and informative.
Kirby St. Augustine’s Maryborough
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Peaceful parent sessions and believe I have gained useful knowledge, tips and strategies to become more mindful.  I will continue to encourage my family to use mindfulness practice to better our interactions, thinking and communication.  Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity to better myself.
Amber, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
We all wish our children come with a manual, they didn’t though.  This course is the closest thing to a manual I’ve come across.  Realistic, simple, invaluable advice, strategies & tools to help with the hardest job we’ll every have.
Jodie, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
I found the workshop relaxing, informative and non-judgemental.  I found the personal anecdotes refreshing and useful.  This workshop has helped me to expand my repertoire of strategies to support my children’s (and my own) emotional development.  The 2 hour session went quickly because they were fun and interesting.
Meagan, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
The workshop was a chance to gain lifelong skills to improve in our families’ wellbeing.  The new ways of thinking and reacting though often a challenge, were really a pleasure to learn.  I now will strive to be more mindful in my approach to myself and those around me.
Nadine, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
Peaceful Parents has motivated me to implement what I’ve learnt into my everyday life, making me more conscious of my emotions, more mindful in what I do, more aware of my responses to people and situations and more present with my kids.  It has also re-iterated to me the importance of self-care and filling my cup.  I am now actively applying all that I’ve learnt to be a more mindful, peaceful person and to teach my children how they can use mindfulness to cope with challenging situations and to find calmness.
Shelley, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
I believe there is a huge (and growing) need for this course.  This course has helped remind me what is important to myself and to my family.
Renae, St. Augustine’s Maryborough
I have thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and been pleasantly surprised with the outcome of being mindful.  On a personal level, my sleep has improved.  The greatest result though has benefited our whole family as we have a much calmer environment in our home.
Danni, St. Patrick’s Lilydale
After years of looking for looking for solutions to anxiety within the household and trying many different ways to reduce turmoil, I found this program extremely helpful in identifying and dealing with these problems.   With many methods that are helpful and easy to apply to everyday situations.
Renee, St. Patrick’s Lilydale
Great course which provides opportunity to reflect on your own life, how you parent and how you can achieve more calm in your family environment.  Everyone should attend.
Jayne
I had never meditated before and this course became available when I really needed it!  It has been very useful, and I have retold and shared many aspects of the course too.
Fiona, St Joseph’s Malvern
I really enjoyed participating in the Peaceful Parents program.  I loved focusing all my attention on the content of the program and then putting things I learned into practice at home.  It was also great to share thoughts and experiences with other parents in the group.  Thank you!
Jade, St Joseph’s Malvern
The Peaceful Parents course was a brilliant course.  I learnt more about myself and to remind myself of some of the key strategies to allow my family to live a more peaceful and mindful life.  The course was very practical with lots of helpful suggestions, examples and visual aids.  I would thoroughly recommend this to other parents.
Amy, St Joseph’s Malvern
The workshop will show you how to be present in the moment, calm thoughts, slow the heart rate and relax the shoulders - peace rolling over you is a wonderful feeling.  The workshop will also help you discover reflective listening, problem solving, coping strategies, positive thinking, building resilience and the importance of self-care.  All of this you take home and put into practice with your family.  This knowledge will help build resilience in your children, as well as keep them peaceful and calm.
Lucy, St Christopher’s Airport West
I found the Peaceful Parents program very useful.  The group setting was great, and it helped to know other parents face the same issues.  The program has helped me to think before acting, and has made a difference to my home.
Michelle, St Christopher’s Airport West
I found it so easy to open up and talk and I didn’t feel I was pushed on a certain way of doing things. It was just perfect. I loved every bit of it and recommend it wholeheartedly
Belinda LaFranchi, St. Mary’s Greensborough
This was a great course and practising Mindfulness has already had a benefit and I greatly appreciate the effort the facilitator has gone to.
Megan Testa, St. Mary’s Greensborough
I’m so grateful I found this workshop.  I’m so much more in tune with being mindful, being at peace with myself and my children.  I highly recommend this workshop.
Paola Karanfilovski, St. Mary’s Greensborough
This workshop was a huge support and has enabled me to approach my daughter’s anxiety in a different way.  Using the new techniques and skills I’ve learnt it has made our whole household a lot calmer and more manageable.
Sharon, St Martins Rosanna
If you have children, you MUST do this course! Right from the first week, I could start to implement things I’d learnt during the classes to bring a positive mindset to my relationships.
M. Inglese, St. Patrick’s Lilydale
Thanks for including me in the Peaceful Parents Program.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like I was doing something awesome towards making me a better person and parent!

It has made a big difference to my parenting and to my everyday life. It’s been a great reminder to just stop the hectic buzz and focus on the task at hand and to enjoy what is around. It has helped me catch myself before I react and rather I try to practice active listening and giving my full attention to what we are doing. I’d highly recommend all parents doing this course.

I found attending the workshops provided an invaluable mental toolkit to survive all these things. Although I’m certainly still a work in progress, I love what I’m working towards and feel like true balance is within my grasp. Grounding, concise and humble also come to mind on reflection of these sessions.

As I have said before, I am still a work in progress when it comes to regular meditation but the program has made me more aware of my thoughts and conversations, both with my children and just in day to day contact with others. I thoroughly enjoyed each aspect of the program but active listening is something that is a bit of a game changer! I genuinely feel like I am listening a lot more now rather than just hearing, if that makes sense! And even when I can't help myself and jump in with advice, I am silently telling myself to talk less and listen more.
 Richelle, St. Mary’s Hampton
Peaceful Parents has made me be more mindful of the here and now and allow myself to stop and slow down. It has also changed the way I listen to my daughter.
Crystal, St Martins Rosanna
I really enjoyed the Peaceful Parent workshop, the sharing of experiences and input from others Mums was invaluable. I have loved introducing all the ideas with my family and I feel we are now more mindful and feeling closer as a family unit.
Vesna, St Martins Rosanna
Peaceful Parents is a program that can easily fit into any busy family life. It has helped improve the communications channels, increase positive experiences at home and create a happier more mindful environment where we appreciate the small things and each other more.
Tammy. St Martins Rosanna
Peaceful Parents Workshop was a great experience in learning mindfulness not only for myself but my children. It has helped bring calm whilst connecting on a new level with my children. It was an experience I’d highly recommended to others. A great way to reflect on parenting and learn new skills.
Emma- St Dominic’s Melton
The Peaceful Parent Workshop is a great way to bring focus on what we can do as parents to bring calmness to help raising our children.
It is not all one method but many techniques taught that you can decide what is best for you and your family.

Peaceful Parents was amazing. I am now not as emotional when my kids are emotional. I feel I have learnt some amazing skills and knowledge that will help create a fabulous future for my kids.
Natalie
The peaceful parenting workshop has been a great learning experience for me on how to gain a better insight into my kids and their emotions. I would highly recommend this workshop.
Cassandra
I feel my partner and I are more relaxed in our approach to every situation that comes our way.
Chris, St Patricks, Lilydale
Peaceful parents was practical and offered strategies that could be applied to all ages and relationships. I am definitely more mindful and it has helped me with my approach to situations and not problem solving for my kids. Thank you so much for changing the way I approach difficult situations.

As parents, we are all faced with the same challenges in raising children.  The course was a great way to open my mind to new and improved ways to assist in raising children and building resilient, well-rounded children.  I have no doubt anyone who does the course will learn new skills to assist in their family dynamics.
Con, St Patricks, Lilydale
The course has helped me get back to enjoying my family and taking time for myself.
Belle, Ocean Grove Primary
Amazing, thank you. Looking forward to future catch-ups and updates.  Have learnt some amazing skills and great knowledge for a fabulous future with the kids.
Natalie
I am a ‘stress head’ and have not been the same since suffering post-natal depression.  I find most days hard, and it is difficult to stay calm.  This has highlighted the effect this would be having on my family and given me strategies to improve my own mental wellbeing.
Laura
I registered without any expectations and was pleased that I made the time.  The workshop was immensely worthwhile - it provided me with coping strategies; awareness of where/how things may become “unstuck”; and how to be more ‘present’ in the moment.  I would highly recommend it to others.
Robyn, St Patricks Lilydale
This workshop will help you with your work, and more importantly, with your family.
David, St. Patricks, Lilydale
The Peaceful Parents program is a combination of theory and practical application in mindfulness.  It was a great opportunity to share experiences with other parents while learning techniques to improve my life and that of my family.  I highly recommend this program to parents of children of any age.
Sharon, St Patricks, Lilydale
I found all the content to be highly interesting and useful in my day to day life and tasks.  I am now aware of when I am becoming overwhelmed and stressed and take a moment to breathe and re-focus.
Megan
I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Peaceful Parents program.  It has allowed me to reflect upon how I deal with various situations and has enabled me to develop strategies that will assist me to help my child navigate her way through childhood and adolescence.
Jo, St Joseph’s Malvern
The Peaceful Parents program was fantastic!  The intimate group was invaluable, and the content has really changed the way I think and approach parenting - for the better!!  I would highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to gain some great tools, resources and knowledge on mindfulness and a calmer life!  Something we all need!
Kate, St Christopher’s Airport West
The workshop was fantastic.  It opened my mind to our family life - a reflective assessment - and allowed me to become more self-aware.  It gave me information on topics that were very relevant, allowed for discussions and finally, it gave me tools, tips, and strategies to implement positive change in myself and my husband, and this flowed on to our kids.  Highly recommend to all parents.
Amanda, St Christopher’s Airport West
I have found this program to be a very positive one and have taken away the tools and coping strategies to help my children to become resilient.  Thank you for the opportunity to take part in something very powerful.
Dana, St Christopher’s Airport West
The workshops are fantastic.  It’s great to also hear other people’s experiences. I highly recommend any parent to get involved with the workshops. It’s so important to have help with life experiences, children / family and be shown tips on how to handle things and help yourself.  Thank you !
